At Golden Bear Law, my goal is to provide top-notch legal help to every client. My emphasis is on affordability and individualized, personal care. Quality legal service should not require a high cost or impersonal treatment typically seen at bigger law firms.

Unlike large firms, where attorneys manage many cases, my success is not based on the number of clients I have. Putting together my own business, the control it allows me was a big plus. I get to decide what the measure of success is. I measure success by the service each client receives. Not by the number of clients I have. My personalized approach improves communication which allows for customized strategies. I also want the client to understand what is happening at every stage and why. I believe informed clients are happy clients. And that leads to better, more effective representation, based on communication and trust.

Local Knowledge and Experience

I have lived in Southern California for more than 40 years. I understand the distances involved between cities and how easy, or not, it is to travel back and forth. My local expertise can be a significant advantage in navigating legal challenges. Compare my knowledge to an attorney based in another state who has have never been to California. No matter how much legal experience they have, they would never see your case and understand it like I do.

Divorce and family law

Divorce is a complex and often emotionally charged process. California requires at least six months to finish a divorce. Many details must be addressed before the marriage is legally dissolved. Every party is required to disclose information about property, employment, wages, retirement accounts, funds or pensions. And the goal, the entire time, is to have the couple reach agreement on all of the details. Every party must be given a chance to be heard. Every party can ask the court to take, or not take, certain actions. Every party must fill out forms, and then, forms declaring what was on the other forms. And exchange them. And every party can say why they disagree with that.

Ultimately, a court’s goal is to achieve “substantial justice” between the parties. That is why courts in California are so careful. Substantial justice can take awhile. It requires careful consideration of all sides of the issues. Courts do not like contentious divorce battles. They don’t. The parties’ willingness to cooperate and reach agreements significantly impacts the cost and length of the process.
